New
students will be asked observe a few classes before participating. When
you actually begin training, you will have a good idea of how we train,
what to do on the mat and when to do it.
During this observation
period (which may range from a one or two classes to several) you
will be interviewed by the instructor at least once. You may be asked
to provide references, people who can attest to your good character.
During
the observation period, you may be invited onto the mat as a guest,
to allow the instructor to evaluate your abilities and interactions with
other students.
If you have had prior martial arts training
of some sort, you will be asked to provide a history of training and rank as well as
locations and names of instructors.
If everything is agreeable, you will then
begin training.
